Very few saw blade manufacturers make a dado
set with six-tooth chippers, even fewer make them with eight teeth. The
more teeth on the chippers, the flatter and smoother the bottom of your
dados will be, it's that simple.
And then there are the outside cutting blades: With 40 teeth you'll get
extremely smooth, clean cut edges. On top of that, these outer blades
incorporate a flat top raker to extend the flat bottom all the way to the
edge, leaving only a very small groove for gluing. No "bat
wings" on the edges.

In the list below, you'll see
that with the exception of the first two basic sets, Popular Tool dado
sets all have the 40T / 8T outer blade / chipper configuration. You'll also notice that
the 8", 10" and 12" models are available with a negative
hook angle on the outside cutters, a necessity if you're cutting grooves
in Melamine board and helpful in eliminating exit-side tear-out in softer
woods, such as conifers.
Each Popular Tool dado set comes with a nice hinged wooden case for
safe, dust-free storage. Every set has been tested to make sure the
cut passes muster and all sizes cut up to 13/16" wide.
